The Gaulitana festival continues today with a concert entitled Baroque with a Touch of Renaissance, featuring Romeo Emanuele Ciuffa (recorder) and Alexander Frey (positive organ). It will be held at the Gozo Seminary chapel in Victoria at 7.30pm.

The programme includes works by Bach, Telemann, Corelli, Byrd and Pasquini.

Tomorrow, Quartetto Auris will perform in Melanges de Passions at Palazzo Palina, Hotel Ta’ Ċenċ, Sannat, at 7.30pm.

Quartetto Auris was founded in 2012 by saxophonists Martina Daga (soprano sax), Orlando Cialli (alto sax), Giada Moretti (tenor sax) and Giulia Fidenti (baritone sax), who attended the chamber music class of Alda Dalle Lucche at the Fiesole Music School. They have a wide repertoire, thanks to their instrument’s versatility, ranging from original works for classic saxophone quartet, romantic and contemporary period, to transcriptions of ancient music and classical works of composers such as Mozart and Bizet.

The quartet also performs several songs from the ethnic and popular repertoire of the 20th century which include works of composers like Joplin, Gershwin, Brubeck and The Beatles; Argentine tangos by Gardel and Piazzolla and gypsy music; and the East European music tradition Klezmer.

During tomorrow’s concert, they will peform works by Albéniz, Weill, Piazzolla, Nicolau and Galliano.
