Now that we know that all that remains of the Azure Window is a heap of shattered rocks, the idea of building a copy or replica of it in fibreglass or any other material is one of those temptations that should be resisted and rejected from the word go. We should just stop thinking of the area as a resource ripe for exploitation by the tourist industry.

The authorities should now make sure that the beauty of Wied il-Mielaħ is not spoilt by the same influx of cars and other vehicles to which Dwejra has been subjected for the last 30 or 40 years.
