St Anne Street in Floriana is quite possibly Malta's busiest road and one of the most hazardous to cross.

And yet these school kids, accompanied by two women, this morning were seen braving the traffic without using the traffic lights, barely 50 metres away. The street also has a subway.

While other pedestrians were seen crossing the road, the woman at the head of the group was careful as she held the children back, but witnesses said it was still a major risk to put children through such potential danger.

Stephen Miceli, head of Floriana primary school, in a Facebook post said the children were accompanied by parents, not teachers.

"At school we have pointed out this matter on many an occasion but, unfortunately our advice goes by unnoticed by some," he said.
