Giulia Pandolfino, a young artist and fashion design graduate from London College of Fashion, has set up her first solo art exhibition at Villa Bighi in Kalkara.
Entitled Atlas of Beauty, the collection features vibrant and colourful female portraits that aim to capture the collective beauty of the female gender across cultures, ethnicities and nationalities.
Each artwork is linked together with a circular shape, found in different sizes and positions on the subject’s cheek. Through such assimilations, Pandolfino aims to represent the collective beauty within the female gender, while patterns, prints and shapes represent the ethnicity of each portrait.
Metallic backgrounds, high-gloss finishes and a bold red canvas edge further unify the female portraits – reaffirming the idea that although people all over the world may seem so different, we are really one and the same.
■ The exhibition is on at Villa Bighi in Kalkara, next door to Esplora, until Friday. It is open weekdays between 10am and 4pm. For more details. visit www.facebook.com/giuliapandolfinoart/?pnref=lhc
