Berlin's two airports remained paralysed today as its ground staff continued a strike over a pay dispute that has already caused the cancellation of around 1,000 flights.

The walkout started again yesterday after a weekend break and lead to the cancellation of 194 flights at Schoenefeld and 448 in Tegel.

Over 600 flights were expected to be cancelled today.

Verdi Union protesters gathered at the doors of Berlin Tegel on Tuesday morning claiming the current offer was unacceptable.

The union wants an increase in pay for ground staff to €12 an hour from about €11 as part of a one-year collective agreement.

Reactions amongst stranded passengers were mixed, but most were fed up of the continued strike and its fallout.
