Amy Krouse Rosenthal, who published more than 30 books throughout her career, as well as being a film-maker, had been battling cancer since 2015.

Just 10 days ago, The New York Times published a piece where she drew up a list of the things she said she loves about her husband and why she believes he makes a good partner once she passed away.

Ms Rosenthal purported to set up a dating profile for her husband knowing she did not have long to live. The essay was called 'You May Want to Marry My Husband.'

Jason, her husband of 26 years and father to their three children, issued a response to the essay, telling NBC News, “It is Amy's gift with words that has drawn the universe in. Unfortunately, I do not have the same aptitude for the written word, but if I did I can assure you that my tale would be about the most epic love story - ours.”
