The St James Hospital Group enthusiastically and wholeheartedly supports the Organ Donation Campaign, spearheaded by the Department of Health.

“We believe this is a continuation of the care we give our patients 24 hours a day and is in line with our philosophy of helping our patients achieve the best quality of life possible. Organ donations can represent the gift of a renewed life for patients who have unsuccessfully exhausted all other avenues of hope. We have our patients’ holistic well-being in mind,” said the group’s local operations CEO Maria Bugeja.

Transplantation of organs, tissues and cells has immense potential to improve and even save lives. One organ donor can save up to eight lives. The Human Organs, Tissues and Cells Donation Act  states that any person who has reached the age of 16 may register their wish to donate or not to donate their organs after death.

The National Organ Donor Register is available to all residents of Malta who would like to register their wish in this regard.

Besides its employees, St James Hospital also encourages members of the public to register their wish through the website organdonation.gov.mt or by filling in an application form and handing it to the hospital’s front desk in any of the group’s branches.
