Are you among those who honestly believe that there is nothing after death? Do you really believe that with your last breath you will cease to exist?

Have you considered that you could be wrong? And what if you are: if when you die, you become aware that you still exist outside your body? Will you panic then and realise how wrong you have been and that you have believed a lie?

We can no longer say that there is no evidence because no-one has ever come back to tell us what happens after death. Many have testified to near-death experiences and what happened to them when the entity that animated their body left it and that they could see their lifeless bodies and all that was happening. They describe the journey they took into darkness or into light: sounds, smells, feelings of fear or of peace and an awareness of God.

This evidence is given to us and access to it is very easy through You Tube videos.  Are they all made-up stories, even those by scientists and highly educated people whose lives were saved through the doctors who attended to them and who were able to give us a glimpse of what they experienced in that short time-frame when death was beckoning?

Malta stands at a crossroad!  With the threat of introducing new laws legalising abortion and euthanasia, if they get through, we will publicly declare that we no longer uphold what our fathers and generations past have held sacred: our faith in Jesus Christ who loves us and came to save us, who was crucified, died and rose again so that we can live forever with him in Heaven.

If we go down the road of accepting death by voting in favour of abortion and euthanasia, then let the floodgates of Hell visit us, as surely they will, but if instead we stop and think that there may be some truth in what was handed down to us: that our heritage is not only in stone and that we should be guarding it with as much energy and intensity as we do our buildings, then let us think again.

If we are presented with a referendum, let us choose life not death. I refer not only to abortion and euthanasia but to our own future.

Let the collapse of the Azure Window be a warning that what we were witnessing, that is the eroding of the stone through the battering of adverse elements, can also apply to the heritage of our faith in Jesus Christ.
