The Gaulitana festival continues today at the Gozo Ministry hall, Victoria, with a concert, entitled Souvenirs from Florence, a piano duo recital by Daria Aleshina and Giuseppe Fricelli at 7.30pm. The programme consists of various works by Debussy, Tarrega, Vannini, Brahms, Faure’, Messager and Fricelli’s Andante Espressivo.

The Gozo Ministry hall will be the venue of a talk, entitled Erich W. Korngold: A Genius, by artist-in-residence Alexander Frey and Brendan Carroll, biographer of the composer and president of the International Korngold Society on Tuesday at 7.30pm. This is the second talk in the Talk series, an innovative feature of this year’s festival. The talks are a prelude to upcoming evening concerts.

Korngold: Music from Vienna to Hollywood by Alexander Frey, will be held at Gozo Ministry hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. The concert will also feature mezzo soprano Marthese Borg. The concert commemorates the 120th anniversary of Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s birth and the 60th anniversary of his death.

Also at the Gozo Ministry hall will continue the Espresso series, the weekly lunchtime concerts for civil servants, on Thursday at 12.35pm. Today’s concert, The Recorder: A Journey, showcases Romeo Emanuele Ciuffa. It will include works by Jacob van Eyck, Georg P. Telemann and Jean D. Braun.

Strains in a Basilica, featuring Alexander Frey on the organ will be held at the Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady, Xagħra, on Friday at 7.30pm. Pierre Louis Attard (viola) and Stefan Calleja (violin) will also take part.

The Gozo Seminary chapel in Victoria will host a concert, entitled Baroque with a Touch of Renaissance, by Romeo Emanuele Ciuffa (recorder) and Alexander Frey (organ) on Saturday at 7.30pm. The programme includes works by J.S. Bach, Georg P. Telemann, Arcangelo Corelli, William Byrd and Bernardo Pasquini.
