Neymar: Barcelona forward Neymar will miss today’s La Liga game at Deportivo La Coruna with a thigh problem, the club said yesterday, depriving the champions of the hero of their stunning 6-1 midweek Champions League win over PSG. The Brazilian missed training yesterday along with compatriot Rafinha who was suffering from gastroenteritis and has also been left out of the squad for today’s game.

Clasico: Spanish arch-rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona will meet in a pre-season friendly in Miami on July 29 in the first “Clasico” to take place outside Spain for 35 years. The game is part of the International Champions Cup, an annual pre-season tournament which has been going since 2013, and will take place at 65,000-capacity Hard Rock stadium, home of NFL franchise the Miami Dolphins.

Irvine: Alan Irvine ruled himself out of the running for the vacant manager’s job at Norwich after overseeing the 2-2 draw against Blackburn. Irvine has also been asked to take charge of next Saturday’s game at Barnsley after Alex Neil was dismissed on Friday, but does not want the job on a full-time basis. “I will not be applying for the job,” he said. “When I was brought in here I made it clear to Alex I was not a threat as it might have looked that way with my age and experience.”

Monaco: Monaco extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to five points after a 2-1 win over Bordeaux yesterday. Leonardo Jardim’s men had to wait until the 68th minute to make the breakthrough but goals from Kylian Mbappe and Joao Moutinho saw them home.Diego Rolan scored late for Bordeaux but it was not enough to prevent Monaco extending their advantage.

Cameroon: Cameroon have called up two of the eight players who refused to compete in the African Nations Cup at the start of the year for friendlies later this month. Forward Eric Choupo-Moting from German Bundesliga club Schalke 04 has been recalled to the squad two months after opting to miss the Nations Cup in Gabon, where Cameroon emerged the surprise winner.
