Headstart Technology shortlisted for ‘Ideas from Malta’

Headstart Technology Ltd was recently shortlisted as one of the finalists for ‘Ideas from Malta’. The company was recognised for the work it has been doing through its EasyPeasyCoding brand to rethink the way coding is taught and learned.

Since it started a year ago at the TakeOff Incubator of the University of Malta, Headstart Technology has rolled out EasyPeasyCoding courses to seven schools in Malta and two in Paris, trained hundreds of students, and networked with thousands more at events promoting the importance of coding for children of all ages.

“It has been an exciting year for all of us here and being selected as one of the finalists is extremely gratifying for the whole team,” said Klaus Conrad, founder and director of Headstart Technology.

“We believe that coding is the single most empowering skill a child, teacher or parent can learn today, and we want to offer the very best learning experience for each and every student.”

The company has big plans and is slated to roll out to more markets this year, including the United Arab Emirates and Chile.

Headstart has also signed agreements with the world’s most innovative ‘edtech’  companies to bring the best resources to its students at price points that anyone can afford. Some of these companies will be joining Headstart at the Malta Robotics Olympiad at the end of March.

The two finalists of Ideas from Malta will now present at the informal meeting of the Competitiveness Ministers of the EU on April 6, and the winner will be representing Malta at the Ideas from Europe finals in Estonia in November.

High rating for BOV Investment Centres

BOV customers have expressed their satisfaction with the six BOV Investment Centres, according to Aldo Scardino, executive head wealth management.

This year marks the fifth anniversary since the first of the investment centres was set up.

“From inception, we have looked upon the BOV Investment Centres as regional ‘centres of expertise,” Mr Scardino said, referring to the results of a regularly-held survey.

Customer feedback regarding different aspects of the service, including ease of access, professionalism of employees and timeliness of service is collated throughout the year. Customers said they were particularly appreciative of the privacy, the muted atmosphere and the personal attention provided by their financial adviser.

Bronze for Malta International Airport

Malta International Airport has placed third in the Best Airport by Region (Europe) category in Airports Council International’s 2016 Airport Service Quality Awards.

The awards are based on the ranking of 284 airports worldwide by passengers travelling through them during the course of 2016.

Malta International Airport obtained its highest score to date in this survey, which measures passengers’ overall satisfaction with their airport experience, including staff efficiency and courtesy, ease of way finding and airport facilities.

This landed the airport in a prestigious third place from among 84 European peers welcoming over two million passengers annually. Sharing this spot with Malta International Airport are Dublin (28 million pax/year), Porto (seven million pax/year) and Zurich (27 million pax/year) airports.
