The Malta Film Commission said today it will be targeting the potentially-lucrative Indian film market.

A delegation from the Malta Film Commission attended a prominent Indian film market in Mumbai recently, providing a platform to reach hundreds of potential film producers attending the event.

"India has a very strong film industry and gaining a foothold in this market would provide the Malta Film Commission with access to one of the largest film industries in the world," the commission said in a statement.

The Malta Film Commission's efforts in India are also being supported by the High Commission in New Delhi, particularly High Commissioner Stephen Borg who was instrumental.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said that the recent marketing initiatives of the Malta Film Commission are delivering tangible results. Malta could benefit hugely when it features in Indian productions not only due to the investment in the local film infrastructure but also in promoting Malta's beautiful locations as tourist destinations, he said.
