Heritage Malta is again organising a guided tour of the Mnajdra Temples early on Monday and Tuesday to mark the spring equinox.

Sunrise on the first day of each season underlines the relationship between the temples and the celestial bodies.

HM said that although it was not known for certain whether these orientations were intentional, they were so systematic that this was highly probable.

In prehistoric agricultural societies, observation of the motion of the stars, the moon and sun were clearly related to the changing seasons and times of planting and harvesting crops.

To ensure that all visitors get to observe the rising sun from inside the temple, only a limited number of tickets will be available. Tickets are available from all Heritage Malta sites and museums at €25, HM members pay €15.

Participants will group early next to the Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra Visitor Centre entrance at 5.30am. The tour includes the experience of the spring equinox at Mnajdra Temples, a guided tour of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra, access to the visitor centre with a 4D show and a coffee break.
