Bjorn Formosa's drive to collect funds to build a specialised residence for patients living with ALS received a €10,000 boost today from the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
A cheque for the amount was presented to Mr Formosa today by President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, who thanked the IT guru and fundraiser, as well as his wife Maria, for their courage and positive attitude.
Ever since he was diagnosed with ALS - a degenerative disease for which there is no treatment or cure - Mr Formosa has made it his life's work to bring the condition to the public's attention, establishing ALS Malta in the process.
Last week, a fundraising telethon on TV programme Xarabank raised more than €900,000 for ALS Malta, with the money to be used to build a home for people living with the degenerative disease.
