A young woman was conditionally discharged by a magistrate's court today after she admitted to having stolen cash and valuables from a private residence in Marsaxlokk.

Charlene Victoria Mula, 25, from Birzebbuga stood accused of the theft which took place in May 2015.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit heard how Ms Mula made off with cash and gold estimated to exceed €2,329.37 in value.

Before delivering judgment, the court observed that the accused had filed an early guilty plea and had also reimbursed the owner in full. Moreover, the court noted that the accused had no criminal record.

For these reasons, the court declared the woman guilty but conditionally discharged her for three years warning her that she was not to commit another offence throughout this term.

Inspector Kevin Pulis prosecuted.
