The Gaulitana festival continues on Tuesday with a talk, entitled The Lyrical Voice, by the Malta-based Bulgarian soprano Andriana Yordanova at the Circolo Gozitano at 7.30pm. This is the first talk in the  TALK series which is an innovative feature of this year’s 11th edition of the festival. The series will consist of talks in preparation for upcoming evening concerts.

Tuesday’s talk will be in anticipation of Wednesday’s vocal recital by the winners of the Concorso Lirico G. Rubini which will be held at the Gozo Ministry hall, Victoria, at 7.30pm. The performers will be Celeste Bang (mezzo soprano) and Bum Joo Lee (tenor), accompanied by Kim Bohye on the piano. The Concorso Lirico G. Rubini is a vocal competition held annually in Bergamo under the artistic direction of Marzio Giossi, a well-known figure with local opera buffs.

The Espresso series will start on Thursday at the Gozo Ministry hall, Victoria, at 12.35pm. The series will consist of weekly lunchtime concerts for civil servants and also for the public. The first concert, Sopranos at Lunchtime, will feature Stephanie Portelli and Annabelle Zammit accompanied on the piano by Colin Attard.

A piano concert, entitled The Singing Keyboard, by Michael Laus will be held at the Gozo Ministry hall, Victoria, on Friday at 7.30pm. He will be interpreting works by Mozart, Liszt and Schubert.

On Saturday, also at the Gozo Ministry hall, will be a concert, entitled 20th Century Sounds on Saxophone by Iacopo Sammartano (saxophone) and Daria Aleshina (piano) at 7.30pm. The programme includes a Maltese song, Il-Mixta, by Colin Attard.

An exhibition of limited prints by Pietro Annigoni will be on display at the Exhibition Hall, Gozo Ministry, Victoria, on Saturday and next Sunday. The exhibition is being held in collaboration with Verso l’Arte.
