Balzan turn on the style to thump Pembroke 5-2 this afternoon in the Premier League.

Pembroke were clearly there for the taking as their defensive strategy backfired.

Alan da Silva Souza opened the scoring in the 12th minute, producing an inswinger that arched over Fredrick Tabone, the Pembroke goalkeeper and into the net.

Pembroke were back on level terms five minutes later thanks to Nagaoka who had the presence of mind to lift the ball past the helpless goaler Christian Cassar and into an empty net.

On 41 minutes da Silva Souza picked up a pass from Paul Fenech inside the Pembroke box and speared his shot past Tabone.

Balzan made the points safe on the hour mark when a well-crafted move by da Silva Souza unnerved Pembroke to complete his hat-trick.

There was no reprieve for the confused Pembroke as Balzan continued to create a plethora of chances. On 65 minutes, Kaljevic struck their fourth goal after being set up by substitute Abdelkarim Nafti.

Unsurprisingly, Balzan eased up as the second half wore on and Darren Falzon had the consolation of getting his name on the scoresheet as his free-kick from distance stunned Christian Cassar.
