A total of €833,564 in public funds will be routed towards 64 voluntary organisations, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli said this morning.

The funds will be used to carry out 66 projects in different communities around Malta and Gozo.

The organisations which qualified for the funds are music societies, sports groups, civil rights organisations, culture groups, and health organisations.

Heaping praise on the work of voluntary organisations, Dr Dalli said the government will continue helping them by opening two new centres in Rabat and Marsaxlokk.

The chairman of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector Nathan Farrugia said the investment in this sector was a vote of confidence in the work of voluntary organisations.

He said the council will shortly be launching a fundraising portal for voluntary organisations.
