Hibernians lodged a protest against the result of Saturday’s BOV Premier League clash against Ħamrun Spartans.

The Paolites failed to regain top spot in the standings as they could only manage a 3-3 draw at the end of a thrilling match at the National Stadium.

Hibs are contending that Spartans goalkeeper Batushila Kambala, who was making his first appearance for the club since his January move, was not eligible to play as his registration was not in line with the Malta FA rules.

According to Hibs, Ħamrun registered Kambala, of Congo, after the January 31 deadline even though they had received the international transfer documents before the cut-off date.

The Malta FA Protests Board is expected to hear Hibs case in the coming days.
