TV deal: Chinese company LeSports had its four-year contract to broadcast Asian Football Confederation (AFC) competitions terminated by the continental governing body last week after failing to pay an instalment on the deal. The deal, worth in excess of $100 million, was signed with the sports unit of Chinese technology giant LeEco in October 2015 and gave the company exclusive China broadcast rights to matches played under AFC auspices.

Bastia: Rui Almeida has replaced Francois Ciccolini as the head coach of relegation-threatened Bastia following their Ligue 1 humbling at Angers. The Corsicans are five points from safety after losing five of their last eight matches, including the 3-0 reverse in Maine-et-Loire on Saturday, across a winless run stretching back to December.

Goetze: Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Goetze has been ruled out of action for the foreseeable future after the cause of his long-term muscle problems was found to be linked to his metabolism.The Bundesliga club said medical tests revealed Goetze’s muscle problems had been traced to what they described as “metabolic disturbances”.

Banned: David Wagner and Garry Monk have been handed touchline bans by the FA for their roles in the touchline melee that marred Huddersfield’s win over Leeds earlier this month. Terriers boss Wagner has been handed a two-game ban while Monk will serve a one-match suspension after the pair were sent to the stands following a clash that sparked ugly scenes at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Young: Everton great Alex Young has died in Edinburgh at the age of 80. The Scot, who won the title with the club in 1963 and the FA Cup three years later, earned the nickname The Golden Vision. He made 273 appearances, having joined from Hearts in 1960, and scored 87 times before departing for Glentoran in 1968.
