GO is looking for a new chief executive officer with existing CEO Yiannos Michaelides set to leave the firm at the end of March.

Mr Michaelides, who has been at the helm of GO since July 2012, will vacate the CEO role on March 30 to "pursue other opportunities," the company said in a statement today.

GO said that Mr Michaelides had helped the company diversify its business, invest in technologies such as Fibre to the Home and Fibre-connected 4G and increase the firm's revenue and profitability.

It highlighted the acquisition of a controlling stake in Cypriot telecommunications firm Cablenet, which happened under Mr Michaelides' stewardship, as a "game-changing development with far-reaching implications for GO".

The company's board of directors thanked the outgoing CEO for his work and loyal service and wished him all the best in his future endeavours.

Mr Michaelides described GO as a "fantastic brand" with "exciting plans and strong prospects" and wished the team the best for the future.
