Times of Malta says a total of €1.4 billion in state aid will be paid throughout the
18-year period of the government contract with the power station consortium Electrogas, according to the European Commission. The second story says the Opposition wants to repeal a proviso of a 42-year-old law under which pending criminal libel cases would continue being heard even when this type of offence is abolished.

L-oriżżont reports Prime Minister Joseph Muscat saying the Opposition leader should respond to the latest claims concerning MP Toni Bezzina in connection with a controversial land application. 

In-Nazzjon quotes party leader Simon Busuttil saying his government would put security among its top targets.  

The Malta Independent reports that a number of residents had mistakenly claimed they had spotted missing Englishman Tom Stewart. It also reports the Transport Ministry saying that a lot of the major roadworks were taking place at night.
