From the next election onwards the two main political parties should stop holding their mass meetings in towns and villages, but instead have them in open spaces such as Ħal Far or Ta’ Qali.
The advantages are numerous; the noise from loudspeakers won’t bother residents, there will be adequate parking for everyone and the environment will be safer just in case the crowd needs to be dispersed for some reason or another.
Residents of Dingli Street, Sliema, for example, dread the day meetings are held in their locality during election time. Peace-loving people expect leaders of all political parties to respect their wish and spare them the great inconveniences and pollution of all kinds every mass meeting generates.
