Birkirkara were pegged back twice as they could only manage a 2-2 draw against St Andrews at the National Stadium.

The Stripes took just eight minutes to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after Michael Johnson blocked Miguel Alba’s shot with his arm and the same Alba converted from the spot.

St Andrews drew level on 18 minutes when Paz fed Nwoko who sent a firm header past Birkirkara goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

Birkirkara were back in front on 27 minutes when Gonzalo Malan connected to Srdan Dimitrov’s corner kick to head the ball into the net.

St Andrews refused to throw in the towel and they punished Birkirkara’s poor defending on 50 minutes when in a quick break Zika Kastrevec squared the ball to Nwoko who made no mistake from close range.

Both teams finished the match with ten men when Birkirkara’s Ryan Scicluna and Enmy Pena Beltre of St Andrews were dismissed on 68 minutes after a clash.

St Andrews striker Kyrian Nwoko was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
