The third round of racing from the Enduro National Championship, organised by the Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi last weekend, saw the participation of 16 riders.

The meet kicked off with the Pole Position qualifiers where Joseph Scicluna and Bernard Sammut, both KTM, claimed the top two positions with very little to separate them as most of the competitors continued to improve their times in the first official heat.

In Class B, Scicluna and Sammut continued to defend their position with the former opening a four-second lead. James Zahra, on Yamaha, was also clocking significant times.

Scicluna continued to strengthen his position as the second heat got underway and went on to seal the top place overall in a best lap time of 5 minutes, 27.46 seconds.

The battle for the runner-up spot was open as Zahra and Sammut were engaged in a three-way battle also involving Gary Debono on his Sherco.

In the end, Sammut’s 5:35.34 earned him second place with Zahra and Debono coming close behind.

Class A, open for motorcycles with smaller engines, saw James Grima (KTM) and Elvin Debono (KTM) among the protagonists.

Grima registered his best time in the Pole Position runs followed by Debono and Chris Falzon (Honda).

Debono showed his true class in the first heat to go provisionally top.

Grima and Falzon produced a very tough challenge but Debono continued to improve on his previous times to win the class with a lap time of 6:09.82.

Grima (6:26.85) had to settle for second place ahead of Falzon (6:39.14) and Aidan Camilleri (Yamaha – 6:43.76).

Another round of racing from the Trials National Championship will be held on Sunday morning.

Racing will be held at a Fawwara quarry, limits of Siġġiewi.

Meanwhile, it was announced that another Demolition Derby this year will be held on April 9. The cars eligible to compete must not exceed four metres in length.
