Valletta came from a goal down to overcome Sliema Wanderers 3-1 at the National Stadium.

The Citizens found themselves behind on 63 minutes when Mark Scerri’s shot from outside the area was not held by goalkeeper Dziugas Bartkus with the ball nestling into the net.

But Valletta hit back strongly and a minute later Maximiliano Velasco pounced on a short rebound to tuck the ball home.

Four minutes later, Rowen Muscat fed Velasco who headed the ball past Sarao.

Eleven minutes from time, Romeo Romao sent a curling cross into the path of Umeh Calistus who slotted the ball past Sarao.

Maximiliano Velasco was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
