Andrè Schembri’s Boavista needed a last-minute goal by Anderson Carvalho to rescue a 1-1 draw at Tondela in the Portuguese Primeira Liga on Sunday.

The experienced Malta forward played 64 minutes before being substituted as Boavista brought to an end a poor run of three successive defeats.

Boavista remained in the lower rungs of the 18-team championship as they are 14th on 14 points, just three clear of the relegation zone.

Zach Muscat was again overlooked by Arezzo coach Stefano Sottili as the Amaranto slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Olbia on Sunday.

The Malta defender was again an unused substitute in a match that saw Olbia score two first-half goals to wrap up the points.

Arezzo have been leapfrogged by Livorno and are now fourth in the Lega Pro Group A  standings on 33 points, 14 adrift of leaders Alessandria.

Barnet, who have Malta winger Luke Gambin on their books, went down 2-1 at home to Stevenage on Saturday.

Gambin kept his place in the starting formation and played for 80 minutes before being replaced by young Nana Kyei.

Dale Gorman put Stevenage ahead in the 38th minute with a precise finish. The Bees levelled two minutes into the second period when John Akinde won and converted a penalty.

Luke Wilkinson ended Barnet’s eight-match unbeaten run when he struck the winner for Stevenage on 61 minutes.

Barnet are now 10th in the standings on 30 points, but just one point adrift of the promotion play-off places.

Sam Magri’s Dover Athletic were denied the three points at the death as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at third-placed Forest Green in the English National League on Saturday.

Magri, who made his senior Malta debut in the 1-0 home defeat to Slovenia in a 2018 World Cup Group F qualifier last month, played the whole match.

Moses Ademola seemed to have given Dover the points when he put them ahead on 70 minutes but Kiefer Moore equalised for Forest Green in stoppage time.

Dover are now sixth in the standings on 44 points, just outside the promotion play-off places.
