Gżira and Pembroke played out a goalless draw in a hard-fought encounter between two relegation rivals at the Tedesco Stadium.
Pembroke started brightly and after two minutes Agochukuw Akuto seized possession from Juan Corbalan and served Borce Manevski who saw his shot blocked by Marco Boerchio.
Mamadou Yallow responded for Gżira four minutes later when he forced his way past his marker but was denied by Matthew Calleja Cremona.
Manevski should have put Pembroke ahead on 23 minutes when the Macedonian was put clear by Paltemio Barbetti but he fired wide with only Boerchio to beat.
Five minutes into the second half, Gżira missed a glorious chance as Corbalan found Avila Perez at the far post and the Spaniard nodded the ball into the path of Jallow who headed over in front of a gaping goal.
Rafael Ledesma thought he had put Gżira ahead on 63 minutes when he sped in between two defenders and headed past Calleja Cremona but the ‘goal’ was annulled for offside.
Pembroke finished the match with ten men when Akuto was shown a straight red card after elbowing Moises Avila Perez.
Gżira’s Riccardo Correa was voted as the BOV Player of the Match.
