A monument commemorating former Gozo Bishop Nikol Cauchi has been erected in the main square of Għarb by the village’s local council. Bishop Cauchi hailed from Għarb. The monument was unveiled at the end of a ceremony during which Cauchi’s acheivements in the ecclesiastic, literary and social fields were commemorated. The bronze monument was designed by Gozitan artist Adonai Camilleri Cauchi and made at Fonderia Campane Cacciabaudo, Burgio, Italy. It was unveiled by Għarb mayor David Apap Agius and Gozo Minister Anton Refalo and blessed by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech. Refalo said his ministry was planning to set up a memorial to Bishop Cauchi at Villa Rundle, Victoria, and to rename after him the square adjacent to Good Shepherd Church, Victoria.
