An art exhibition entitled Duet currently running in Attard presents work by two artists new to the local scene.
Ludmyla Skrivanek and Peter Rock focus on Maltese views, townscapes, seascapes and traditional copies of icons. Merging an active social life with one lived by the sea and nature, their works are inspired by the islands’ natural surroundings.
Skrivanek adopts different styles of art, using a classic technique of acrylic, oil and water media. She is a self-taught artist who developed much of her technique through copying old masters, developing portraits in black pencil and experimenting with watercolour and oil.
Rock’s preferred expression is the splashed technique with experimentation. An emerging artist, he works primarily in acrylic and water media, often employing bold colours and emotive tableaux in a post-impressionistic manner. Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothco are two of his preferred artists.
Both are students of Anastasia Pace and follow her Colour Reverie manifest which purports movement towards light and colours, believing that art can contribute to an optimistic outlook.
■ The exhibition runs until December 28 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.
