San Andrea School is holding its International Christmas Village this Sunday, which will also see the inauguration of its brand new Multipurpose Hall.

The event starts off with the inauguration followed by Mass, after which visitors will be able to experience Christmas as celebrated in different cultures around the world.

A range of stalls will sell Christmas crafts, food and more, all prepared by the parents of students attending the school. Others will host traders, who will present a selection of Christmas wares.

There will also be several activities for families to partake in, including a football tournament in aid of L-Istrina, abseiling and ziplining, billiards, table tennis, air hockey and table soccer in the games room, gaming in the ICT suite, jiu jitsu and badminton demonstrations, and the chance to take a commemorative Christmas photo. Children can also try their hand at crafts or horse riding.

A bouncy castle and carousel as well as popcorn and candy floss stall will add to the festive atmosphere.

Drama students will be putting up two shows starting at 2pm, On the Shoulders of Giants and The Railway Children, while a literary programme organised by the Maltese department will follow at 3pm.

Also on site will be cast members from this year’s Masquerade pantomime Puss in Boots.

Many of the activities will be taking place in the new hall. This state-of-the-art building will be a hub for sports activities, as well as a much-needed space for the expressive arts. The facilities will enhance the sports department’s activities through the practice of basketball, futsal, handball, badminton and volleyball, while offering the possibility to several sports associations to rent it for their specific use.

The Multipurpose Hall has also been fully equipped to handle drama productions, musical theatre performances, dance routines, live-music performances and mimes.
