ATTARD. On December 7, at home, TERESA of Marsalforn, aged 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Rosa, Anna, Vitor, Maria, Ċensu and Michael, their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital, tomorrow, Thursday, December 8 at 3pm for the Capuchins’ church, Victoria, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Marija Cemetery, Xewkija. BUHAGIAR. On December 6, JOSEPH, aged 86, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his only daughter Gina, wife of Francis Farrugia, his granddaughters Lucienne and Caroline, his in-laws Mary and Lizzie, in Malta, Vicky, Edwin and his wife Lina, of Australia, relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Friday, December 9 at 2.30pm for Maria Bambina parish church, Naxxar, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.15pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Naxxar cemetery. CUSCHIERI. On December 5, LOUIS A. of Kappara, widower of Winnie, née Naudi, aged 84, passed away peacefully at home, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved daughters Vikki and her husband Bobby Micallef, Maria and her husband Ian DeGabriele, his adored grandchildren Petra and her partner Romain, Sandrina, Steven, Alan and his partner Sylvie, his great-grandsons Luca and Matteo, his brothers Maurice and Alfred and his wife Monica, his sisters Imelda Borg Bartolo and Ethel Rose Buttigieg, his in-laws Marthese Cuschieri, Anton Naudi and his wife Marlene, and Jane Naudi, his personal carer Arnold, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and numerous friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today, Wednesday, December 7, at 2pm at Our Lady of Lourdes parish church, San Ġwann, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. It was Louis’s wish to have his body donated for medical research but due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control this was not possible. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, and Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MASSA. On December 7, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, CARMEN, widow of Walter, aged 83, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She will be greatly missed by her children Charles and his wife Doreen, Sandra and her husband Patrick Boffa, her grandchildren Alona, Kyle and his girlfriend Sarah, Jeanelle and her boyfriend Danny, her brother John and his family, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia, tomorrow, Thursday, December 8, at 7.45am for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family would like to thank the staff at Casa Antonia, especially the doctor and nurses Michelle and Bora, for their care and dedication during these past weeks and the staff at Hospice Malta, Balzan.

MAYL. On December 6, at St Vincent de Paul residence, EILEEN, née Gingell, of Sliema, aged 78, widow of Christopher, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Roderick and his wife Shirley and John; her grandsons Sean and Keith; her sisters Mabel and her husband Paul, and Elsa and her husband Victor, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow, Thursday, December 8, at 1.30pm for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, St Julian’s, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment in the family vault at Santa Marija Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PENZA. On December 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his very sad loss his daughters Yvonne and her husband Francis Agius; Moira and her husband Edwin Balzan; his dearly loved grandson Jason and his wife Sharon and their son Andreas; grand-daughters Julia, and Annalise together with her partner James and their son Julian; his brother and sister, Espedito and Petronella and their families; in-laws, nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, December 10 at 8.30am for St Andrew’s parish church, Luqa, where Mass will be celebrated at 9am, followed by interment in the family grave at Luqa cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Poinsettia Sale

There will be a sale of poinsettia plants in aid of the Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, tomorrow and on Saturday and Sunday. The plants will be on sale from the church parvis.

Bazaar in Vittoriosa

A bazaar in aid of the Benedictine nuns in Vittoriosa is being held from Thursday to December 13. A variety of items, including furniture, will be on sale. Opening times are from 9am to noon and from 4 to 7pm.
