The BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation’s annual fund-raising concert this year is taking place on Wednesday at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta.

The annual event is organised by the foundation in its bid to generate the necessary funding to achieve its objectives. Patrons attending the concert will enjoy the performances of the Maltese tenor and several of the foundation’s scholars.  They will be accompanied by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Brian Schembri.

Speaking about the concert, Calleja said: “I always look forward to this event, where I perform together with several of our scholars. I am thrilled, particularly this year, that the concert is being hosted at the Manoel Theatre and I am convinced that with the repertoire we are putting together will be an intimate event and unforgettable experience for our benefactors.”

Patrons will also be invited to a reception which will also be attended by the tenor and accompanying artists. This will be held at the Casino Maltese and will commence right after the concert.

Set up in 2014 by its founding members, Calleja and Bank of Valletta, the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation has two main objectives. The first is that of providing financial assistance, encouragement and support to exceptionally talented young persons in the field of the performing arts in order to enable them to realise their full potential. The second is that of providing assistance and support to children coming from difficult social backgrounds and environments, whose situations are not catered for by existing social support programmes.
