A man operating a garbage truck was grievously injured this afternoon in a workplace accident in Birkirkara, police said. 

The 29-year-old Fgura man was operating a Dennis-branded truck at a factory on Notabile Road when the accident happened at around 12.20pm, police said. 

An ambulance rushed the man to Mater Dei Hospital, where he is being treated.
