Quicklets and Zanzi Homes have, together with LEAD Development, successfully launched the Real Estate Agent Professional Award course accredited by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education in Malta.

The first workshop was held last month at Swatar Training Centre. The audience included a large number of Quicklets and Zanzi Homes agents, other agents, as well as village brokers ‘sensara’.

The course is to span over six months and include 50 lecturing hours, split into nine modules. Speakers will include real estate experts as well as professionals from the environment, financial services planning and architectural sectors.

Apart from learning about the evolution of the real estate market in Malta and its economic impact on the economy, this course helps agents gain fundamental knowledge in relation to laws and regulations governing real estate in Malta and how to advise clients accordingly.

This course helps agents gain fundamental knowledge in relation to laws and regulations governing real estate in Malta

One of the objectives of the course is to help estate agents approach their career in the correct manner which should help change the general public’s perception in relation to estate. The focus of this course has been deeply rooted in revolutionising the trade of property via real estate agencies and their agents.

In conformity with the White Paper issued by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Competitiveness and Economic Growth, the Real Estate Agent Professional Award course intends to ensure that people working in real estate are trained intensively and professionally to be able to give accurate advice when offering their services to potential clients.

Also, the White Paper proposes a license to operate for agents, establishing an authority and a framework to oversee the profession and ultimately provide the best possible service for the end user (the client).

Agents will need to be formally recognised as such, carrying a licence to operate, allowing them to perform their duties within a regulated system. The aim, once again, is to provide a professional service, taking into account the conduct of real estate agents and the management of both properties and clients. A set of rules is to be respected and offences can be punished by financial penalties or even the loss of one’s qualification.

Quicklets and Zanzi Homes have welcomed this progress and strongly agree that estate agents have a lot of responsibility when advising clients on purchasing property.

Steve Mercieca’s comments were hooked upon the future: “We are thrilled to embark on this new programme, initiated by the White Paper.

“Quicklets and Zanzi Homes will surely be at the forefront of acquiring these qualifications; we want to be the drive in the industry and bring the change it needs, both in terms of its work ethic and level of professionalism provided. First and second-time buyers, as well as investors, have the right to be served by the best people in the industry, managing their property transactions, and we’re working toward achieving just that.”
