Stephen Grima’s latest exhibition is currently on in St Julian’s.

From the terrace of his studio carved in bed-rock above Għadira Bay, Grima is inspired by a bird’s-eye view of the vast space below him.

Remixing possibilities shows how the artist is in perfect harmony with nature as his works mimic the seagull’s swooping movements or is imbued by the power of foamy waves.

Grima fuses an incised strong and powerful line full of dynamic movement with a romantic and expressionistic warm palette.

His colourful palette is inspired by the nature that surrounds him, the steep cliffs and ridges around Mellieħa, the castellated towering red-domed parish church, its campo santo, the terraced fields in chequered and variegated tones, the blue sea and sky, the yellow sand and monumental open space.

He uses strong and bold chromatic colours, particularly a bright red, a deep green and a dark blue, with spontaneous and agitated flashes of his brush.

■ The exhibition is running at the Cavalieri Art Hotel in St Julian’s until December 2.
