Winners of the Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants 2016 Survey, conducted in September, were presented with prizes. Barbara Farrugia won the first prize – two night stay in a deluxe room on B&B basis at the InterContinental Malta.

The second prize – a one hour ride in a Route 66 Hummer Limousine with free flowing prosecco – went to Jenny Cefai, while the third prize – a gourmet hamper to the value of €200 from Dical House, Fine Foods & Wellbeing Mosta – was won by Stephen Muscat.

The three winners returned their surveys with ratings and included the funniest, most relevant and most informative comments.

As it enters its 17th year, the Best Restaurants Awards Ceremony, considered to be the ‘Oscars’ of the local restaurant industry, will be held at the The Grand Ballroom, Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana, on  December 5.

The new edition of the Guide will also be launched during the night. It will feature the results of the 2016 Restaurant Survey and the votes of the survey of 2,074 people dining out on average of twice a week to an equivalent of 215,696 dining experiences in a year.

Additional awards will be presented for other categories, including the top rated Best Food Award sponsored by Unika Beef, Best Service Award sponsored by Maturmeat, Best Ambience Award, Best for Maltese food, Best for Business Entertainment sponsored by Rummo;

Most Romantic sponsored by placeabooking.com, Best Value for Money sponsored by Meats & Eats, restaurant offering the Best Vegetarian Options sponsored by Good Earth Distributors Ltd, Best Restaurant Restroom/Cloakroom, restaurant for Lively Atmosphere, ‘Children  Friendly’ restaurant award sponsored by The Malta Baby & Kids Directory;

Best Newcomer, Most Mentioned Restaurant, Chef of the Year Award sponsored by The Catering Centre, the Award for Restaurant Most Dedicated to Supporting Local Produce sponsored by the Parlimentary Secretariat for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, the Valletta Cruise Port Award for Top Rated restaurant on the Valletta Waterfront and the Colin Best Award for the Most Consistently Outstanding Restaurant.

There will also be wine awards sponsored by Riedel, the wine glass company.

The results will be online at www.restaurantsmalta.com as soon as they are announced on December 5.
