I refer to the interview with Finance Minister Edward Scicluna (The Sunday Times of Malta, October 23).

When asked about Panamagate and allegations of corruption and cronyism Prof. Scicluna attempted to deflect the criticism by mentioning two Opposition MPs – Beppe Fenech Adami and Tonio Fenech.

This, in my opinion, is politically dishonest.

I am sure Prof. Scicluna knows full well that the Panamagate scandal cannot be compared to the allegations against Dr Fenech Adami and Mr Fenech.

In the Panamagate scandal, Konrad Mizzi, Keith Schembri and the Egrant Ltd owner opened secret companies in secretive Panama. The allegations against Dr Fenech Adami and Mr Fenech are regarding their role as directors of financial services companies that act as directors to other nominee companies.

Prof. Scicluna knows full well that there is a huge difference between the two examples, but to score political points he decided to bring Dr Fenech Adami and Mr Fenech into the picture.

This is simply unfair.
