A new attractive geographical wall chart of the Maltese islands was inaugurated last week at the National Book Fair.

The map serves as a useful tool to create awareness among students to understand the surface features of the islands. It has been produced in line with the national curriculum to suit the needs of students at secondary level and has been approved by the Ministry of Education.

The map has a unique chart of the 68 local council delineations and their coat of arms. The map contains a wealth of geographical information that can be sourced through a detailed legend.

Maltese name place names have also been brought up to date.

Geologist Dr Peter Gatt also contributed to the project. His input provided valuable geological information, including a geological overview of the central Mediterranean and a geological rock cross-section of Malta, which shows the stratigraphy as well as deformation of the rock.

The project was undertaken by Visual Centre Ltd in collaboration with Austrian publisher Cartographic Institute Freytag and Berndt, one of the oldest cartographic houses in the world which is headquartered in Vienna.
