Those so-called ‘PN switchers’ who had voted Labour for the first time in 2013 and havesince switched back to the Nationalist Party, having been influenced by all the inflated, twisted and, at times, invented stories about “scandals”, which were described as “corruption”, must be already thinking of returning to the Labour movement after having heard the leader of the Opposition’s reply to the Budget speech followed by the Prime Minister’s reaction the following day.
We watched Simon Busuttil dispensing fear and doubt about the present and the future while, at the same time, trying totake credit for the govern-ment’s successes.
The following day, on Tuesday, we heard Joseph Muscat totally demolishing Busuttil’s doom and gloom speech with detailed facts about how all the people have benefitted from this Budget but mostly those who are at the lower scale of our society, as well as offering great hopes of an even better future for all our people.
If Busuttil’s speech hadbeen vetted and approved bythe PN’s electoral campaign manager, Caroline Muscat, then, instead of helping the PN and its leader to improve theirelectoral chances – as she is being paid very handsomelyto do – she is doing theexact opposite.
If, on the other hand, Busuttil did not feel the need to seek her advice, then her employment is only a waste of money, which the PN can ill afford.
