One of the most prestigious international conferences the field of digital game studies will be held in Malta this week. The 10th International Conference in the Philosophy of Computer Games (POCG) is this year being organised by the University of Malta’s Institute of Digital Games from Tuesday to Friday.

The conference, entitled ‘Knowledge and Computer Games’, will discuss epistemological questions raised by computer games. The various talks and presentations will explore and experiment with the concept of games and people’s engagement with them as they are shaped by epistemic processes of inquiry and discovery.

The Journal of the Philosophy of Computer Games, a peer-reviewed academic publication that will be hosted by the University of Oslo in Norway, will be launched during the conference, which will mainly be held at the University’s Valletta Campus.

On the first day of the conference, which will be held at the University’s Msida campus, the panel sessions are open to the public. Participants will also be able to participate in a workshop on building playful musical experiences and attend panel discussions featuring prominent researchers on game design as critical reflective practice and the meaning of game philosophy.
