The Tourism Minister announced in Parliament that 900 more beds have been approved in hotels.

One has to consider the impact of this increase. Hoteliers and restaurant owners are presently experiencing great challenges regarding workforce shortage, especially when it comes to cleaners and servers.

Very often, one can read comments, even in this paper, including by some columnists, about the number of foreign workers in the trade, some of whom, unfortunately, do not even speak English.

One has to ask how the increase in the number of beds would affect the standards of service. What will be the impact on the infrastructure, such as traffic? Were all stakeholders, such as MHRA and the ITS, involved to assure that the required standards are maintained and possibly improved?
