The chairman of Malta’s Institute of Directors, James Satariano, led a delegation from the IoD Council to meet new British High Commissioner Stuart Gill. The delegation consisted of Mr Satariano, James Arrigo, IoD honorary secretary, and Edwin Ward, IoD’s communications director.

The delegation discussed a number of topics with High Commissioner Gill and exchanged views on business issues. Mr Gill explained to Mr Satariano and his fellow council members the broad policy that the UK presence in Malta will follow and how the British High Commission may collaborate with the institute, continuing a heritage that has lasted three decades.

Closing the meeting, Mr Satariano, on behalf of the IoD, outlined a number of initiatives the institute would be undertaking in 2016 and 2017 and explained that it was the co-organiser of the 20th European Corporate Governance Conference in conjunction with the European Confederation of Director Associations and EY EAME, which will be held in Malta next April. Mr Satariano said the European Corporate Governance Conference would be attended by more than 250 international directors and chairmen from the largest cap companies across the EU.

Mr Satariano said: “We are delighted to be working closely with ecoDa on a range of issues, undertaking research and contributing to their policy committee as well as co-organising major events like the 20th European Corporate Governance Conference. We will be undertaking an outreach programme to local stakeholders over the next three months to gather support for the event and we will be represented at the 19th European Corporate Governance Conference in Bratislava on October 27 by Mr Ward, who is also our representative in Brussels with ecoDa.”
