Due to certain tax developments, Castille Institute will be holding a tax conference on Friday at the Corinthia St George’s Bay, St Julian’s.
The event will focus on the recently passed Council Directive, laying down rules against tax avoidance practices that directly affect the functioning of the internal market (referred to as the Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive).
In addition, the conference will explore the OECD’s recommendations regarding the disclosure of tax shelters and tax avoidance scheme, as well as the beneficial ownership register to be implemented under the EU’s Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive, the most sweeping piece of AML legislation in Europe across several years.
The first part of the programme will be led by an international speaker, Dr Niklas Schmidt, partner at Wolf Theiss in Austria (recently named as one of Austria’s top tax lawyers, according to Austrian magazine FORMAT). The international analysis will pave the way to a delivery by Nicky Gouder, who will be discussing the impacts for the local scenario. Mr Gouder is a partner at ARQ Group, heads the tax practice and specialises in international taxation with a focus on domestic legislation.
The conference will come to an end with a panel discussion led by a number of local leading tax practitioners who will delve into the country-by-country Reporting Implementation Package as outlined in BEPS Action 13.
