For its next event, which is being held tomorrow, Fragmenta is collaborating with Maltese artist Aaron Bezzina at the Għajn Tuffieħa Tower.

Bezzina will present a selection of new objects and a site-specific installation brought together under the title Memento Mori: Hints Taken From Terror Management Theory. All works take their point of departure from terror management theory which claims that culture and art provide meaning in an insecure world by being a manifestation of concerns with our own mortality.

The Fragmenta platform presents art events and installations that are time and site specific. The place is always accessible to the public free of charge and the event never lasts longer than 24 hours.

Bezzina (1991) earned a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at the Mcast Institute of Art & Design in 2014 and has just completed an MFA in Digital Arts at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences, University of Malta. He has been exhibiting work both locally and overseas for the past four years. In 2015, he was awarded a residency by the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg. Although Bezzina’s works tend towards the sculptural, he is also interested in other media which encourage meaning making and further associative actions.

■  The next Fragmenta is taking place tomorrow between 2pm and 6pm at the Għajn Tuffieħa Tower. This event was made possible through the support of the Gaia Foundation Malta. Fragmenta is supported by Valletta 2018 – European Capital of Culture.
