A wide-ranging conference in Maltese and English on New Dimensions in Translation in Malta is taking place tonight in Vittoriosa.

It brings together experts and practitioners from the fields of translation and beyond. Speakers include Helga Zahra from the European Commission, Joseph Eynaud, head of the Department of Translation Studies, Terminology and Interpreting at the University of Malta, translation scholar Kenneth Grima, poet and translator Antoine Cassar, Maltese-Norwegian editor, translator and publisher Kristina Quintano, Lonneke van der Plas, senior lecturer in Human Language Technology at the University of Malta, and Fatima Sai, translator and lecturer in comparative literature at the University of Salento.

■ The conference is taking place at the Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa from 6pm to 9pm. Entrance is free of charge. The talks and open discussion will be followed by light refreshments. The conference is being organised by Inizjamed and the Department of Maltese in the General Directorate for Translation of the European Commission.
