Our Lady of the Lily Band is taking part in a concert tomorrow as part of the celebrations for Jum l-Imqabba (Mqabba Day).

The band will perform a varied choice of musical pieces under the direction of Andrew Calleja, including a minuetto by Luigi Boccherini, arranged by Carmelo Caruana, favourites from various Disney films and a fanfare by Mqabba’s first female mayor, Charlene Zammit, together with Calleja.

On Sunday, the village’s square will see a downpour of sweet ravioli as the village once again celebrates Festa Ravjul.

Before gathering beneath the balconies of the village’s band clubs to try to catch some of the falling ravioli, visitors of the festival will be able to enjoy a variety of dishes made with this speciality. A mobile blood donation unit will also be on site as well as a children’s area.

The highlight of Festa Ravjul, however, is the ravioli rain. The falling ravioli will be cooked according to a recipe created by Mqabba resident Jonathan Zammit, featuring sweet ricotta and grenadine syrup.

■ The concert, which is being organised by the council, is taking place at the Mqabba Primary School Hall at 7pm. Entrance is free of charge. For more information call 2168 0622 or visit www.talgilju.com.

The Festa Ravjul is taking place on Sunday between 11am and 5pm, with the ravioli rain scheduled to start at 3pm. It is organised by the Mqabba Local Council in collaboration with 2 Minds Events.
