Hull City have declined to comment on the status of a £130 million takeover proposal from a group listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

The potential buyers were named as Greater China Professional Services Limited, who were said in a Stock Exchange statement to have entered a provisional agreement on October 13.

Any deal would be subject to the Premier League’s owners and directors test, which was reported to have halted an agreement with another Chinese company last month.

“There is nothing to say,” a club spokesman told Reuters.

Celtic need to invest in squad – Rodgers

Celtic need sustained investment in their squad to compete against top teams in the Champions League, manager Brendan Rodgers has said after his side lost to Germany’s Borussia M’gladbach on Wednesday.

The defeat left the Scottish champions bottom of their Champions League group, with only one point from three matches.

“There are certain attributes you need and of course that does cost you money,” Rodgers told British media. “That will be up to the club and our recruitment to look and try to find these players.

“We know that availability and affordability figures, but it is something that will happen over a period of time.”

West Ham’s Carroll no closer to a return

Andy Carroll’s latest comeback has been delayed with no return in sight for the injury-plagued West Ham striker.

The 27-year-old picked up a knee problem in the Europa League tie with Romanian side Astra Giurgiu in August.

The initial prognosis was that Carroll would be sidelined for four to six weeks, but over two months later the forward is no closer to returning.

“Originally it was four to six weeks but now it’s way longer than that so all that I can say is he’s working really hard, but its slower than we expected,” manager Slaven Bilic.

Russ back in training after cancer recovery

Marco Russ is set to return to training for Eintracht Frankfurt after recovering from testicular cancer.

The 31-year-old defender discovered he had a tumour after a routine anti-doping test came back positive.

Upon receiving news of the positive result, Russ underwent further medical examinations which confirmed that the values were high due to a tumour. He commenced chemotherapy soon after and five months on, he has been given the green light to return to training.

“Marco is healthy and he has been given permission by the doctors to return to work,” said Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac.

Garcia named new coach of Marseille

Marseille have named former Lille and Roma boss Rudi Garcia as their new head coach.

Garcia, who was sacked by Roma in January, replaces Franck Passi who had been interim coach since Michel’s departure in April.

The 52-year-old Garcia has signed a three-year contract at the Stade Velodrome and inherits a side who are 12th in the Ligue 1 standings ahead of Sunday’s showdown with arch-rivals Paris St Germain.

The coaching change comes three days after the 2010 French champions were taken over by American businessman Frank McCourt in a €45 million deal.

Donnarumma to extend Milan deal

Gianluigi Donnarumma will reportedly sign a contract extension with Milan in February, tying him down until 2022.

The 17-year-old has established himself as the Rossoneri’s first-choice goalkeeper, but his current deal runs out at the end of next season.

Agent Mino Raiola has warned that his client will not commit to the club with uncertainty over the new Chinese owners, and Juventus have reportedly shown interest as a replacement for his namesake, Buffon.

However, Tuttosport reported that there has been a breakthrough in talks, and Donnarumma will officially sign his new contract when he turns 18 in February.

The talented goalkeeper is set to stay with Milan until 2022, and in return his salary will rise from €160,000 per season to €3 million.

Wilmots denies talks with Wolfsburg

Former Belgium boss Marc Wilmots has dismissed speculation linking him with the head coach’s job at Wolfsburg.

Wilmots has been touted as a potential permanent replacement for Dieter Hecking, who left the Wolves on Monday.

Valerien Ismael has been placed in caretaker charge for the club’s next two games.

“I have not had any talks with Wolfsburg,” Wilmots told kicker.de.

“These are just inventions made by the media which I would not like to comment on.”
