Semyon Bychkov conducts a cast of young, up-and-coming talent including American soprano Corinne Winters in a new production of Mozart’s opera on the nature of love.

Screening today at Eden Cinemas, St Julian’s, the opera puts two pairs of lovers to the test – with great music but distinctly unexpected results. How much do you love your partner? How much do you trust them? And can they trust you? are the questions this classical masterpiece raises. For this new production, director Jan Philipp Gloger creates a richly theatrical world as the playground for this quirky comedy where two men try to woo each other’s partners for a bet.

In this retelling of Così Fan Tutte, theatre director Don Alfonso – the puppet master of this experiment in love – uses all the sets, props and tricks of his trade to invent new scenes to challenge the lovers’ affections.

■ The Royal Opera House’s production screens at 7.30pm and is rated PG.
