A free workshop featuring the artistic and music directors from Teatru Astra’s forthcoming production of Aida is taking place tonight at the Manoel Theatre.

Aimed at opera lovers, patrons of the Astra residing in Malta, singers and students, Behind the Opera Curtain will see artistic director Enrico Stinchelli and musical director Joseph Vella sharing their insights on the forthcoming production, the third Aida that Teatru Astra is staging.

Stinchelli, an expert in the history of opera and vintage recordings, will speak about Aida through the decades and will identify landmark interpretations that the audience can listen to. The workshop will also be highlighting the experiences of a number of choristers.

■ Behind the Opera Curtain is being held at the Manoel Theatre’s Studio Theatre in Valletta tonight at 7pm. The event, which is supported by Bank of Valletta, is free but booking is essential.
